1995 Ford Escort RS Cosworth Lux

1995 Ford Escort RS Cosworth Lux
Welcome to this auction for my Escort Cosworth
I have the opportunity to finally get my hands on a black 3dr, a car I’ve wanted for many years but have never been in the right financial position to purchase.
So, I am thinking about selling my Escort Cosworth to free up some money towards the Sierra.
Firstly, and most importantly, it is recorded as category C from back in 2001 at approximately 40k miles but repaired and put straight back on the road. (HPI states Vehicle extensively damaged but repairable – the insurer decided not to repair).
This was 22 years ago and 49k miles have been covered since.
This is a nearly complete project and almost ready for an MOT.
The car is a 1995 M – registration Escort Cosworth Lux. It was kept off the road in dry storage for around 13 years before I bought it last November.
It has 89,850 miles on the clock with bills and receipts. Owner’s manuals, book packs, 2 keys and alarm fobs all present.
Log book states 7 former keepers
Since owning this vehicle, I have had it fully serviced with all parts coming from Paul at PJ Motorsport and Dale at Sierras R Us. This included all belts, water pump, fuel filter etc.
Whilst the service was being done the mechanic noticed a little corrosion on the rear brake lines, fuel lines (hard lines) and mentioned the aux belt tensioner bearing. So again, I have bought the parts and am currently waiting to have these fitted.
New battery fitted 2 weeks ago.
As previously mentioned, the car was sat for around 13 years and the exterior looked dusty and rough. It’s since had a professional polish with ceramic coating which has lifted most of the stains caused probably by bird shit. There are still marks present, some more obvious than others. My plan was to get it completely resprayed within the next month or two to really bring it back to its former glory.
There are no rust bubbles anywhere on the car and the sills are good too.
The engine was rebuilt at 87k miles at a cost of over 3k and the turbo was refurbed/reconditioned by Turbo Technics at around 80k miles. Mechanically in good order and starts first time.
The leather interior is in good condition with slight wear on the driver’s seat side bolster.
New Ford mats to go in (NOS)
It currently has clear indicators in the front and wings, I have bought an orange set to put back to standard look but again not fitted yet.
One of the headlights is not working, I have not investigated that yet to see if it’s something simple like a bulb or fuse.
One of side lights has a broken bracket by the spring, I have the repair kit but have not attempted it yet.
The driver’s side window goes down at an angle and needs help going back up. So again, needs looking at.
The dashboard lights are dim. I have the contact details of a guy that has refurbed many in the past on Escort Cosworth’s and he’s quoting £225 for the dash clocks, turbo clock set and to replace an inverter.
The passenger side rear window has dropped very slightly. I have read that they are fairly straight forward to adjust.
Also, the circular carpet section that goes in the boot is missing.
The car looks pretty standard and well cared for through most of its life. No non-standard parts that I can see and no horrible holes in the parcel shelf. Original Ford stereo system etc.
It just needs a few things looking at, MOT and a respray then should be good for many years to come.
This is not a £60k, low mileage garage queen. It has been used, enjoyed and cared for before being left and stored.
As previously stated, I am only looking at selling to buy a black 3dr Cosworth that I know about. It’s been my dream car since I was young and watching the Texaco one race.
Agreed insurance value with Lancaster is £45k
I have been as honest as possible with this description to not waste anyone’s time.
Feel free to come and view and make your own mind up as to its current value.
